“Pentru Voi” was the first organization in Romania to develop and offer programs such as supported employment, independent living, self-advocacy, and an activity center for adults with profound intellectual disabilities.

At this moment “Pentru Voi” provides community based services to 175 individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families, being a training provider, a resource center and a voice to be considered by the authorities.

33 of our service users are employed full-time for companies throughout Timisoara and benefit from supported employment. We have 2 specialized job coaches who offer vocational profile, jobs searching, vocational and social abilities training, professional insertion and accompaniment for our employed service users.

The service users are employed on various positions depending on each ones working abilities: genitor, selector, assembler, packager, tailor, computer operator. Last year 22 service users participated to computer operation and construction trainings, organized trough a PHARE project and specially adapted into easy-to-understand format. The graduate of the trainings are teaching their colleagues to work with the computer and participate to different construction operations where they have the opportunity to practice what they learned during the trainings.

The Romanian government adopted a law providing companies with a choice when it comes to paying a particular tax (see Article 78 of Law 448/2006). This article was included in the legislation at the initiative of “Pentru Voi” Foundation. Under this law, companies with 50 or more employees must have at least 4% of their work force include persons with disabilities. If they do not do so they must pay a monthly tax equal to 50% of the gross minimum national salary for each position which is not filled by someone with disabilities. 

In lieu of paying this tax, however, companies may choose to purchase products or services from "authorized protected units" in an amount equal to the monthly tax.
