The aim of the project is to increase life quality for people with mental disabilities and/ or challenging behavior. The objectives of the project are as follows:
• Building a protected house in Timisoara for 5 adults with severe mental disabilities and/or challenging behavior.
• Providing individual focus support services for the 5 beneficiaries.
We will build a house specially designed for the needs of the 5 people with severe mental disabilities and challenging behavior. The house will have 5 individual sleeping-rooms, a kitchen, a living-room, and two bathrooms with special equipment.
Once the house is built, the 5 lodgers with severe mental disabilities will benefit from services appropriate to their needs: specialized care, educational activities, development of social and communicational skills, household and leisure activities. Each beneficiary will have an individual schedule with specific objectives to increase the degree of independence.
The project is funded by the Mental Health Initiative of the Open Society Institute Budapest, the international organization Habitat for Humanity and the Timisoara City Hall (that leased the 2755 sq. m. land for 49 years). The project’s sustainability will be provided by the Timisoara City Hall based on their partnership with the Pentru Voi Foundation.
