The Dutch Ministry of Social Affaires finances the project, in the framework of MATRA program. The objectives of the project are:
- To train the staff from DINA and DINU. The training consists of theoretical and practical knowledge, different therapeutically methods, and working methods with persons with mental disability.
- To train the director and the managerial team of day center "Pentru Voi"
During 2002, specialists from Holland came to Romania to train the staff of "Pentru Voi" (they organized seminars, had discussions, and worked together with staff members in order to help them to become professionals).
In the same time, they helped the group leaders to elaborate the tools used in their work: observation schemes, forms for collecting information, intervention plans.
In the framework of this project nine group leaders from DINA and DINU, six members of managerial team and other persons involved in providing services for persons with intellectual disability were trained. Directors from other institutions for persons with intellectual disability attended some seminars and workshops on management.
The staff gained a lot of information, the ability to work better with persons with intellectual disability and more important, become able to train other persons. Immediately, it was observed an increase in quality of offered services at DINA and DINU community services. More than this, some beneficiaries are preparing to have an independent living.
The project ended in 2003 - The International Year of Persons with Intellectual Disability, when the national conference "To be on your own feet" was organized.
