Six more persons with intellectual disabilities began work on Monday as part of the practice / apprenticeship program, this time with the collaboration of the Timisoara company Satimpex as part of the "Professional start for people with intellectual disabilities” program funded by United Way Romania.

For a period of 2 weeks, 3 hours/day, the 6 adults with intellectual disabilities, supported by a representative of "Pentru Voi" will be performing tasks at Satimpex varying in complexity. The tasks at the production hall vary from lining, stapling and hole-punching with specific machinery depending on skills and aptitudes shown by the team members.

“Employment on the free labor market is an ideal to which all of out beneficiaries aspire to and this program is a step towards achieving it," says Laila Onu, general director of the “Pentru Voi” foundation in Timisoara.

Satimpex is a Romanian company who recognizes the fact that people with intellectual disabilities can be a valuable human resource asset for production activities. The apprenticeship activity does not end with the beneficiaries’ employment at the company, but their support aims to develop practical work, socialization and communication skills at a normal job environment, helping them become acquainted with all aspects of employment on free labor market.

This program’s participants may, during these two weeks, take on more complicated tasks, while their original tasks are performed by practitioners at "Pentru Voi". In addition, through this practical program, the company prepares the people whom it may later hire.
