Foundation "Pentru Voi" organize the fifth edition of the National Conference for Self-Advocates with the theme of Employment of people with intellectual disabilities: between opportunities and challenges, which will take place at Mamaia, between 31 August - 1 September this year.

The event is part of the project Social Economy - a chance for people with intellectual disabilities co-financed through the European Social Fund through the Sectoral Operational Program Human Resources Development 2007 - 2013 — ”Invest in People".

The conference will discuss the following topics: What are the difficulties to get and keep a job? How to communicate with my employer? How should I communicate with those around me? What is guardianship and how does it affect me?

The right to work is one of the fundamental human rights and the access of people with intellectual disabilities at employment is an important step towards social inclusion and facilitate access of these people in their communities as citizens with equal rights.

Observation: A self-representative is an adult with intellectual disability, able to make decisions about themself and his views.

At the conference can only participate as self-advocates people with intellectual disabilities. Participation is free for both self-advocates and for passengers (one attendant for every self-advocate). Accommodation and meals are also provided by the organizers. Transportation not provided. Places are limited and entries are based on selection.
